Annie Sketch

My buddy Tim Hill asked me to do a quick Annie sketch for a friend who is leaving Riot. Tim is an awesome guy who is all about helping others however he can. He never asks for anything, so it was great to finally be able to help him out with something. :)

Tired of Reviews

In order to keep my game knowlege up, I try to play a new game every day. I try to download every demo I can find. I have found that nearly every game has something to learn from it. I go into nearly every game with expectations based on reviews. Sometimes I am pleaseantly suprised by a game being far better than expected.

Remember me went on sale for $13 on Xbox recently. This is a game that I was very interested in when it was announced. Once it was close to release, the reviews started coming in. The game was given poor reviews focused on bad combat and story. So as usual, I added it to the list of games to try when its on the Steam Summer Sale. I tried the demo and I was instantly suprised by how amazing the asthetics were and how immersive the world felt. The early combat in the demo was pretty bland, but it didnt bother me too much. After 20 min of play, I decided that it was definately worth $13.

I played it for a couple hours a night over the past 5 days or so until I finished it this morning. I play thousands of games and probably finish less than 1%. Dispite the dialogue being cheesy game writting and the combat being less than stellar, I was completely hooked because of everything else. The over arching story, subtle exploration, interesting characters and fantastic art were enough to forgive the combat which gets much better later in the game. The best part of the game is the memory hacking segments. This was both innovative and engaging. Worth the price of admission all by itself.

This game makes me dislike reviewers more than ever. Had I known I would enjoy this experience this much, I would have supported the developer and purchased Remember Me on day 1. I give these guys credit for trying something new and making an amazing and engaging cyber punk setting with a solid story.
